Understanding Comments in AnswerHub

Much like the AnswerHub voting and following features, Comments are a way to help create and support a vibrant and active AnswerHub community. They function as secondary responses to Questions, giving users a way to respond to Questions without actually answering them. Also, Comments allow users to respond to Answers.

Although Comments are secondary responses to Questions, they are the primary responses to both the Ideation and KBentry (Articles) plugins. Comments allow users to interact with one another about Ideas and Articles, providing feedback, opinions, or even asking for more information.

What You Can Do with Comments

From the Question User Interface, you can do the following:

• Comment on a Question or Answer.
• Edit a Comment.
• Convert Your Answer to a Comment.
• Convert Your Comment to an Answer.

Comment On A Question or Answer

To Comment on a Question or Answer, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your AnswerHub site.
   Result: The AnswerHub User Interface (UI) displays.
2. Locate and select the required Question.
   Result: The Question UI displays.
3. To Comment on the Question, do the following:
   a. Click the Comment link below the Question.
   Result: The Comment field displays.
   b. Enter your Comment into the Comment field.
   c. Click the SUBMIT button.
   Result: The Comment displays below the Question.
4. To comment on an Answer to the Question, do the following:
   a. Click the Comment link below the Answer.
   Result: The Comment field displays.
   b. Enter your Comment into the Comment field.
   c. Click the SUBMIT button.
   Result: The Comment displays below the Answer.

Edit A Comment

To edit a Comment, follow these steps:

You can only edit your own content unless you have additional permissions.

1. Log in to your AnswerHub site.
   Result: The AnswerHub User Interface (UI) displays.
2. Locate the Comment to edit.
3. Click the More link.
4. Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
   Result: The Comment field displays.
5. Make the required edits.
6. Click the SUMBIT button.
   Result: The [content] UI displays.

Convert Your Answer To A Comment

To convert your Answer to a Comment, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your AnswerHub site.
   Result: The AnswerHub User Interface (UI) displays.
2. Locate and select the required Question.
   Result: The Question UI displays.
3. Locate your Answer.
4. Click the gear icon to the right of your answer, and select Convert to Comment.
   Result: The "Select comment location" window displays.
5. Select the Place the comment under drop-down menu, and select where to put the Comment.
6. Click the OK button.
   Result: The page refreshes and the Comment displays where you selected from the Place the comment under the drop-down menu.

Convert Your Comment To An Answer

To convert your Comment to an Answer, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your AnswerHub site.
   Result: The AnswerHub User Interface (UI) displays.
2. Locate and select the required Question.
   Result: The Question UI displays.
3. Locate your Comment.
4. Click the more link at the bottom of your Comment, and select Convert to answer from the drop-down menu.
   Result: The "Please confirm" window displays.
5. Click the YES button.
   Result: The Answer displays under the Question.
